Water: Basically the key to everything

That sounds dramatic, I know. But it is true. If you're sick, you drink more water, if you're thirsty you (should) drink water, if you want clean skin you should drink more water. So is it really surprising that in order to lose weight you need drink water. We're not talking an extra glass per day (thought that would be helpful as well), we're talking drinking the full amount of water you need. EVERY DAY. Crazy idea right?

I know, you've heard this time and time again. But do you really know why it's so important? Why you should take the age-old advice and just start drinking all the water you should be?

First and foremost in the weight loss category, your body can't differentiate between thirst and hunger. This means that when you're grabbing a snack during the day, there's a good chance you're just thirsty. If you drink a glass of water before you go straight to the vending machine, you may notice you're not hungry anymore. This way, you save the calories from the snack you almost had and get more of the water you need.

Water can also help increase your metabolism, suppress your appetite, cleanse your kidneys, and help eliminate toxins. Because of all of these qualities, drinking the right amount of water can help you lose an average of 4.5lbs every 12 weeks!

So we challenge you to do your best. The average person needs half their body weight in ounces of water per day. So whatever you're current water consumption is, add an extra glass or two every day and build up to that perfect amount. We think it will make immense improvements to your health and your weight loss! Let us know how it goes!

Commitment: The real key to weight loss

I've tried losing weight before, how will Slimmer You be any different?

One of the biggest challenges in losing weight is commitment. How many times has "lose 10 pounds" been one of your New Year's Resolutions? Or maybe you were just trying to get in a little better shape for a vacation or for the summer at the lake.
For most people, the ambition to lose weight is short-lived. It might last a few days, or even a few weeks. The trick to really losing weight, however, is sticking with it for the long run; not loosening your plan just because you've lost the initial interest or you decide maybe it isn't worth it.
